Protective coatings for tools and sensors operating in a contact mode

Nowadays a novel class of materials based on Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) due to their excellent mechanical properties became interest as a protection coating. In the present work surface morphology, structure and surface energy of a various Diamond-Like Carbon films were investigated. The results show that DLC-based materials seems to be a promising candidates as a low friction and low wear non sticking protective coatings.
