Limiting transition to light-front coordinates in field theory and the QCD Hamiltonian

A semiphenomenological approximation to the QCD Hamiltonian is proposed. It is based on the use of light-front coordinates and includes the effect of the vacuum condensate on the mass spectrum via the zero modes of the gauge fields. This approach is motivated by the limit of the theory in Lorentz coordinates.
