    Abstract:
To characterize patterns in whole-person health of public health nurses (PHNs).Survey of a convenience sample of PHNs (n = 132) in 2022. PHNs self-identified as female (96.2%), white (86.4%), between the ages 25-44 (54.5%) and 45-64 (40.2%), had bachelor's degrees (65.9%) and incomes of $50-75,000 (30.3%) and $75-100,000/year (29.5%).Simplified Omaha System Terms (SOST) within the MyStrengths+MyHealth assessment of whole-person health (strengths, challenges, and needs) across Environmental, Psychosocial, Physiological, and Health-related Behaviors domains.PHNs had more strengths than challenges; and more challenges than needs. Four patterns were discovered: (1) inverse relationship between strengths and challenges/needs; (2) Many strengths; (3) High needs in Income; (4) Fewest strengths in Sleeping, Emotions, Nutrition, and Exercise. PHNs with Income as a strength (n = 79) had more strengths (t = 5.570, p < .001); fewer challenges (t = -5.270, p < .001) and needs (t = -3.659, p < .001) compared to others (n = 53).PHNs had many strengths compared to previous research with other samples, despite concerning patterns of challenges and needs. Most PHN whole-person health patterns aligned with previous literature. Further research is needed to validate and extend these findings toward improving PHN health.

Abstract There has been a shift in emphasis in public health from the provision of personal health services for individuals to efforts targeted at improving the health of the whole community. Many in public health nursing (PHN) have welcomed this shift, recognizing the important role PHN can play in promoting health and preventing disease for all. There continues to be a need to redefine PHN roles and practice so that public health nurses can participate more effectively. Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Public Health Nursing (LAC PHN) has developed a practice model grounded in nationally recognized components: the public health team, PHN standards of practice, the 10 Essential Public Health Services, Healthy People 2010 's 10 Leading Health Indicators and additional local indicators, and the Minnesota Public Health Nursing Interventions Model. The LAC PHN Practice Model provides a conceptual framework that assists in clarifying the role of the public health nurse and presents a guide for public health practice applicable to all public health disciplines.

Abstract The recent Institute of Medicine report. The Future of Public Health , reviews the history, current status, and potential of the public health system in the United States, and makes detailed recommendations for its revitalization. Although public reports such as this risk speedy obscurity, many are used by planners and legislators and a few exert significant influence. Public health nursing is inadequately represented in this potentially influential document, and this has unfortunate implications for public health nursing.

Objectives The Committee on Public Health Nursing (2017-2018) of the Japanese Society of Public Health aimed to elucidate the competencies of public health and public health nursing to provide basic materials for public health, public health nursing education, practice, and research. Methods We studied the core competencies of public health professionals and public health nursing in the United States and examined similarities to and differences from those in Japan. Results The United States and Japan shared similar public health and public health nursing competencies in that they targeted populations, identified health problems, and clarified health challenges for effective actions. However, differences were noted in the understanding of target groups, perspectives for identifying health problems and overcoming health challenges, and conceptualization of individuals in populations. In public health, the target population practiced clear boundaries, such as residing in certain geographical areas and ethnic groups, among others. In health challenges, the top-down approach was employed to resolve health problems in certain populations. The individual was recognized as a part of a population composed of a certain group. In public health nursing, target population (e.g., from individuals/families to groups/communities/social groups) were understood in a continuous and multilayered manner. Individual/family health problems were associated with the characteristics of groups, communities, and social groups that encompass the continuum. Moreover, health challenges were addressed in a manner oriented toward the transformation of social groups as a whole. Public health nursing competencies in both countries, which share many similarities, were developed to achieve the objectives of public health. In the United States, the competencies and skills considered necessary, such as analytical/assessment and cultural competency skills, were clearly expressed and constructed in line with the core competencies of public health professionals. However, in Japan, skills and abilities necessary as competencies in public health nursing mentioned above were not specified. Conclusion Elucidating the core competencies of public health professionals in Japan is essential to develop human resources that can contribute to effective practices in public health and public health nursing. Toward this end, skills and abilities necessary as competencies in public health nursing in Japan, which were not previously verbalized, should be described in detail.

The World Health Organization have stressed the importance of nurses and midwives as a "force for health" in society's efforts to tackle the public health challenges of our time. The public health challenges are both diverse and complex. Principally, they emanate from a social model of health that takes cognizance of our behavior, our environment, and the historical, political, and cultural structures that facilitate health or militate against it. This paper provides a critical overview of public health nursing in Ireland, toward situating both our contribution to public health and some of the challenges that lie ahead of us. Specifically, it looks at nonquantifiable practice, where, through the presentation of stories, the wealth of public health nursing work is demonstrated in the ordinary voices of public health nurses. The potential risk of ignoring and minimizing the contribution of public health nursing in future developments in primary care in Ireland is discussed. Finally, it is proposed that public health nurses need to get political.

For security, no matter how high some countermeasures are, if there is a weakness the attacker will break the defense at least focusing on the weakness. Observing the security domain with scientometric approach, there are strengths and weaknesses in each country. Exporting the strengths will enhance the defenses of the others, and gaining support for our own weaknesses will be enhancing our defenses. This research extracts the strengths and weaknesses of each country, and identify the science and technology that should be exported and that should be incorporated. The data retrieved from Web of Science are used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each country in security.
