Abstract:
Nepal is a South Asian multi-ethnic (125 distinct ethnic groups) country with nearly 30 million populations and located (latitudes 20⁰ and 31⁰N and latitude 80⁰ and 89⁰E) largely in the Himalayas and partly in Indo-Gangetic plain, surrounded by China and India. International tourism is the leading industry in Nepal and around 1.75 million foreigners visit in every year. The first Novel corona virus disease (COVID-19) case was detected in Nepal on January 5, 2020. After that Government of Nepal immediately took some drastic steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 like - mandatory health check-up in airports, cancellation of visas, prevention of infiltrations in borders, sending back all foreigners/tourists in their home countries and also reformed their healthcare systems, by building up isolation centers in hospitals and involving trained personnel for the management of COVID-19. Besides that, they tried earnestly to educate public through media and imposed/ implemented rule for home quarantine. All these planning to fight against COVID-19 were implemented strictly and granted rewarding results in this pandemic. Till mid-November, 2020 the incidence of COVID-19 infection in Nepal was 208299, of whom, 1215 died. Keywords:

Guidance on COVID-19 quarantine duration is often based on the maximum observed incubation periods assuming perfect compliance. However, the impact of longer quarantines may be subject to diminishing returns; the largest benefits of quarantine occur over the first few days. Additionally, the financial and psychological burdens of quarantine may motivate increases in noncompliance behavior. We use a deterministic transmission model to identify the optimal length of quarantine to minimize transmission. We modeled the relation between noncompliance behavior and disease risk using a time-varying function of leaving quarantine based on studies from the literature. The first few days in quarantine were more crucial to control the spread of COVID-19; even when compliance is high, a 10-day quarantine was as effective in lowering transmission as a 14-day quarantine; under certain noncompliance scenarios a 5-day quarantine may become nearly protective as 14-day quarantine.Data to characterize compliance dynamics will help select optimal quarantine strategies that balance the trade-offs between social forces governing behavior and transmission dynamics.

Quarantine of COVID-19 high risk groups is one strategy of interrupting chains of transmissions of the disease. We describe a COVID-19 imported case placed under home quarantine that resulted in 8 local transmission cases at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic in Botswana. This case report highlights that home quarantine if not well managed can lead to a surge in local cases and drawing from the literature we propose recommendations of strengthening home quarantine.

Abstract During the COVID-19 pandemic, international travelling has been altered. Thailand requires a 14-day travel quarantine for travelers entering the country. However, extra self-quarantine might be ordered by the local authorities, so the healthy travelers could be kept isolated and excluded from work or other responsibilities. We reported a male traveler who was unnecessarily quarantined for 30 days since he arrived Thailand. Based on a symptom and an antibody result, we also proposed the promising quarantine decision for international travelers in Thailand. Reducing the length of quarantine may make it easier for people to quarantine by reducing the time they cannot work. A shorter quarantine period also can lessen stress on the public health system, especially when new infections are rapidly rising. Analysis of 17 quarantine species of fruit flies intercepted by the Yunnan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in recent years showed that the dominant species are Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel), B. cucurbitae (Coquillett) and B. tau (Walker), according to their number and frequency. This paper analyzes their revival regions and non-survival regions, respectively, and recommends different quarantine measures based on the species of the pests, the circumstances along Yunnan border, affected fruit and vegetable species and the biology of the fruit flies.

The effects of quarantine on 16 cats and their owners were assessed by means of four questionnaires completed by the owners at the beginning of their cat's stay in quarantine, three months later, and two weeks and three months after the cats left quarantine. Changes in body condition were evident in two‐thirds of the cats during and at the end of quarantine but not three months later. Mid‐way through quarantine, the owners considered their cats were less attached to them, less relaxed, more excitable, more aggressive, more nervous and less playful than before quarantine. When they left quarantine the cats were friendlier, more affectionate and more timid, and three months later they were more affectionate, more nervous and more vocal than before quarantine. When they left quarantine and three months later the cats spent more time with their owners than before quarantine. Most owners visited their cats once or twice a month; the location of the cattery and the limited opening hours restricted the number of visits they made.

In Chile a Post‐Entry Quarantine System for propagating plant material has been established to prevent the introduction of quarantine diseases and to maintain good national phytosanitary status. Four types of quarantine facilities are in place and may be used for Prunus spp. and hybrids: absolute quarantine, filter quarantine and farm quarantines levels 1 and 2. All imported Prunus material is submitted to biological, serological and molecular analysis for Plum pox virus (PPV) detection.

An important change in the following revision of the Japanese beetle quaran- tine provides for exemption of certain products by administrative instructions issued by the Chief of the Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine, when in his judgment the nature of the growth or production, or the manufacture or processing of such products, is such that their interstate movement is not considered to constitute danger of spread of infestation. The regulations have also been revised to include in the regulated area additional territory in the States of Maine, Maryland, New York, and Vir- ginia. Some outlying areas where Japanese beetle infestations have been found are not included in the regulated area because of assurance from the States concerned that adequate measures will be taken to prevent the spread of the pest therefrom. The restrictions on the interstate movement by refrigerator car or motortruck of all fruits and vegetables from the District of Columbia and portions of the States of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, between June 15 and October 15, inclusive, have been extended to apply to the entire State of Delaware. SUMMARYUnless a certificate or permit has been issued, these, regulations as now revised prohibit the interstate shipment of green corn on the cob, beans in the pod, bananas in entire bunches or in clusters of 25 or more, apples, peaches, blackberries, blueberries, huckleberries, or raspberries from any part of the regulated areas, and also prohibit (unless a certificate or permit has been issued) the interstate movement of all fruits and vegetables by refrigerator car or motortruck from the District of Columbia, the State of Delaware, and parts of the States of Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.Refrigerator cars used for loading fruits and vegetables, other than onions and potatoes, in such area must, prior to loading, be cleaned by the common carrier and kept tightly closed and sealed during the interval between c-ieaning and loading.Onions and potatoes must be fumigated in the car when such action is deemed necessary by the inspector, and doors and hatches of the cars must be closed or screened. For other details and exceptions seeregulation 5.The regulations also prohibit the interstate shipment of plants, sand, soil, earth, peat, compost, and manure from any part of the regulated areas to or through any outside point throughout the year unless a Federal permit or certificate has been secured.Portions of plants and cut flowers are restricted interstate movement only between June 15 and October 15, inclusive. For details and exceptions see regulations G and 7.The regulated areas include the District of Columbia, the entire States of Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, and parts of the States of Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsyl- vania, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. The boundaries are shown in regulation 3. 60140°-36These regulations also place certain restrictions to protect restricted articles from infestation while in transit, require thorough cleaning of vehicles and containers which have been used in transporting restricted products, and pro- vide other safeguards and conditions as provided in regulations 8 to 13, inclusive.

This artic reviews the quarantine disease pest of plants from different countries in 20 years. The results showed that the quarantine disease pests increased with the booming of imports and exports, 112 disease pests of plants were hunt down and seized in 1980 -2000 included 116 species (genus) ,and the rates of intercept and capture were the highest from America Japan Holland and France. Were the most among the quarantine disease pets the rates of intercept and cater were 34. 8% and 30.4% respectively. With the enjoy the sight of flower young plant and propagation organ were the main plants with quarantine disease pests , then were fruit and fruit tresses the rates of intercept and capture were 36.5% and 13.5% respectively. The developing tendency and quarantine counter-measure was put forward.
