    Abstract:
The international services literature lacks research investigating the association between corporate size and corporate international experience with the internationalization. Using an integrated theoretical approach, this paper examines the internationalization of construction service corporations (CSCs) with specific emphasis on four dimensions: motives, firm-specific competitive advantages, home country-specific competitive advantages and locational considerations. A quantitative approach was adopted through a postal questionnaire survey. Out of 126 CSCS, 84 usable responses were analyzed giving 66.7% response rate. A comparative analysis was conducted using Mann-Whitney U test between the corporations having different sizes and international experiences. The findings show that CSCs of varied sizes did not concur over several firm-specific competitive advantages and home country-specific competitive advantages, whereas CSCs of varied international experiences were in disagreement over some locational factors. Small CSCs need to form joint ventures or partnerships in order to overcome their limitations. The government support is direly needed to promote internationalization of CSCs especially the younger and smaller ones which stand more vulnerable due to lack of opportunities in their domestic markets. The study will be helpful to managers and regulatory bodies towards creating a balanced playing field to develop the internationalization process for their service corporations.
This article aims to determine whether pre-internationalization conditions improve the performance of first-time exporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Two pre-internationalization conditions are discussed here: firm performance and age at internationalization. Building on the aspiration-level performance model of March and Shapira (1992) with sequential internationalization and international new-ventures approaches, this article develops two research hypotheses proposing an effective alignment with pre-internationalization performance and age at internationalization. These research hypotheses are examined using a panel database of 522 French SMEs that began export operations for the first time in 2014. The statistical results partially support our first hypothesis by showing that early-internationalizing SMEs with a lower performance relative to their peers significantly increase their post-internationalization performance. Contrary to what we predicted in our second hypothesis, we observe that late-internationalizing SMEs, which deliver a much higher performance than their historical aspirations, significantly reduce their post-internationalization performance.

Many firms in transition economies are faced with the increasing internationalization processes, which present both opportunities and threats for SMEs. The project on which this paper is based is concerned with the effects of a variety of internationalization processes. Apart from an internationalization of markets, these include the internationalization of production, the internationalization of capital, the internationalization of human capital and the internationalization of regulatory regimes, which govern the conditions in which products are produced and sold. In the paper we will focus mainly on the effects of an increasing internationalization of markets, highlighting the nature and extent of the competitiveness of SMEs in the surveyed countries in foreign and domestic markets.

The internationalization phenomenon can be described as the set of processes which helps identifying, entering, establishing and expanding to international markets.Depending on the company and its industry, different internationalization processes might be entertained. This study analyzes the entry modes and market selection strategies followed by Sophos Banking Solutions, a Colombian software company, and also identifies the influencing factors determining their internationalization process.By exploring the existing theories on internationalization and comparing them with the firm's strategy for internationalization, the study identifies whether the firm used the same or different strategy to enter different international markets. The paper also identifies how variables such as managerial influence and network relationships determine the firm's internationalization process. The results illustrate that multiple internationalization theories can be related to the different strategies being followed, but after analyzing the different strategies, we concluded that the firm's internationalization process could be better understood using LLL model.

A rapidly changing environment creates new challenges for companies seeking to expand their activities outside the country. On the other hand, the changes can be accelerators for new activities, new breakthroughs of ideas. Internationalization solutions of born global enterprises are often in response of changes in the environment and have a quick solution for engaging in the foreign markets, ambition and entrepreneurial activity. Rapid internationalization of small and medium-sized companies is often associated with strong partners and the need for the operation of a network. Therefore, networking is becoming a necessity for successful internationalization of born global companies. Building on the extant literature and drawing on the network theory, this paper presents a conceptual model of born global firm internationalization and benefits from the networking in internationalization process. The theoretical research has shown that formal and informal networking is crucial for internationalization of born global enterprises, however there are positive and negative outcomes, which are discussed. The investigation contributes to born global literature, presenting networking-based rapid internationalization. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5755/j01.ss.86.4.9260

Existing and dominant perspectives on determinants of firm internationalization have focused on the firm-specific and country-specific factors, paying less attention to the question 'if and how can clusters foster internationalization of cluster firms'. To investigate this issue, we conducted the study focused on the Polish clusters. First, we conceptualize the impact of clusters on the internationalization of cluster firms by introducing the concepts of the propensity of internationalization and intensity of internationalization. Second, we assess the internationalization intensity of clusters in Poland and check how cluster managers facilitated the internationalization of cluster firms. The results obtained show that clusters play an important role in neutralizing the liability of foreignness suffered by cluster entities. The findings confirm that the need of internationalization which is related to the internationalization propensity emerges over the time as a cluster matures and internationalization intensity is higher in case of more dense clusters. By combining meso- and microeconomic perspectives, this study offers a more holistic approach for studying internationalization processes.
