BACKGROUND The chin is an important facial structure that directly affects the overall contour of the face. The key to achieving a beautiful, effective, and safe chin injection is to make a good facial assessment and use an appropriate injection technique to achieve the best injection effect. OBJECTIVE In this article, the authors will discuss cosmetic concepts for the chin area and verify the effectiveness of chin augmentation techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS Chin volume injections were performed on 23 Asian female subjects and 15 Asian male subjects. Demographic and imaging data were collected, and the facial aesthetic length was calculated. The authors also measured the length of beautiful chins, as evaluated by 2 plastic surgeons, and the ratios of chins from “The 100 Most Beautiful/Handsome Faces in China” published by TCC Asia in 2020. RESULTS The mean volume of chin filling was 1.89 ± 0.74 mL in female subjects and 2.68 ± 1.28 mL in male subjects. The ideal length of the chin was equal to that of the nasal dorsum in male subjects, and the ideal chin-to-nasal dorsum ratio was 0.9 in female subjects. CONCLUSION In this study, the authors investigate sex differences in chin aesthetics among the Chinese population and introduce an aesthetic and anatomical approach to chin injection.

The chin, located in the most prominent part of the lower facial profile, maintains the balance and coordination of the face. The chin size, shape, spatial position and proportion can all give rise to various chin malformations. Chin plasty plays an important role in improving facial appearance. Recent studies indicate that it’s difficult to completely meet the mental aesthetic requirements with a single procedure. The combination of different chin plastic surgery has become a hot spot in plastic surgery. In this paper, the morphological analysis of chin, the surgical progress in Chin plasty, the advantages and adverse effects of these methods, and the synthetic application of various surgeriesis were reviewed.

While studying Tiddim Chin (Kamhau) during a visit to the northern Chin Hills in 1954, I had an opportunity of making a brief investigation of Teizang, a neighbouring dialect closely akin to it. The paucity of first-hand material on the Chin dialects permits me to hope that it may be useful to set down some of my findings, tentative and limited as they are, and to make such comparisons as suggest themselves with the better known Tiddim Chin dialect. My informant, Mr. Hau Za Lian [ ] came from Suangzang village [ ] a few miles from Tiddim, on the other side of the Manipur river. The phonetic and grammatical pattern of the language appeared to correspond closely with that of Tiddim Chin, 1 but certain differences were noted.

목적 :안전한 식이를 위한 치료적 기법으로 사용되는 chin-tuck자세의 정확한 적용을 위하여,임상에서 어떤 식으로 사용하고 있는지 알아보고,정확한 용어정의를 위하여 시행되었다. 연구방법 :2009년 10월 17일에 대한연하재활학회의 연하재활 전문가과정 참가자들 114명을 대상으로 설문조 사를 실시하였다.응답자는 종합병원,전문재활병원 등에서 연하재활치료를 실제 시행하고 있는 작업치료사 로 한정하였다. 결과 :114명의 작업치료사 중에서 24.6%는 chin-tuck과 chin-down을 같은 자세라고 생각하였으며,64%는 두 자세가 다른 자세라고 생각하였다.임상에서 연하장애 환자를 치료할 때에 chin-tuck/chin-down자세를 61.4%의 응답자가 자주 사용한다고 답하였다(‘매우 자주 사용한다'포함).Chin-tuck자세를 의미하는 사진 으로 69.6%는 머리 굴곡(HF)으로 12%는 목 굴곡(NF),11.2%는 머리와 목의 동시 굴곡(HFNF)을 선택하였 다.chin-tuck에 대한 적당한 한글 용어로는 ‘턱 당기기’,‘턱 집어넣기’,‘턱 내림’,‘턱 붙이기’등이 추천되었 으며,chin-down에 대한 적당한 단어로는 ‘턱 내리기’,‘고개 숙이기’,‘턱 당기기’등이 추천되었다. 결론 :연하장애 재활치료가 작업치료의 전문 영역으로 인식되어가고 있는 현 시점에서 chin-tuck / chin-down자세에 대한 명확한 정의를 내리는 것과 동시에 치료사들마다 다르게 생각하고 있는 chin-tuck /chin-down자세들이 삼킴 작용에 있어서 어떠한 효과를 보이는지에 대한 기능해부학적인 연구가 필요할 것이다.

Experimental results are reported for the numerical quantities of the different shapes of human chin where, to the best of the author's knowledge, this approach has never been applied. The results are based on 3143 pictures of chins taken from the Internet of which 1328 were of women and 1815 of men. The author has succeeded to classify all the chins into 3 shapes: the cleft chin for men only, 2.23% of the total; the double chin, 15.69% = 14.0% + 1.69%; and the normal chin, 82.09% = 41.52% + 40.57%, where the first number is for men and the second for women.

Microgenia, or a recessed/weak chin, plays a significant role in facial disharmony. Although patients with severe microgenia, malocclusion, long-face syndrome, or other significant orthognathic problems are not suitable for chin augmentation alone, many people have mild to moderate microgenia that would benefit from implant-based chin augmentation. Assessment of the chin is included in any critical analysis of the face and plays a key role in the planning of all facial aesthetic procedures. The ideal chin is thought to extend to or just behind a vertical line dropped from the nasion or the upper lip vermilion on profile. The authors describe their efficient, safe seven-step approach to chin augmentation.
