Abstract:
The uses of humic substances and organic residues for soil mulching have been more common during last years. This way, an experiment was carried out to evaluate the fruit quality and yield of guava cv. Paluma as a function of humic substances and organic soil mulching in Brazil. The experiment was performed from January 2012 to June 2013 (first trial) and from July to November 2013 (second trial) using a randomized blocks with treatments distributed in a factorial arrangement (5 × 2 × 2) of five humic substances doses (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mL of Humitec plant-1), two organic mulching use (with and without organic mulching) and two consecutive harvests, with four replications of two plants each. Humic substances enhance fruit production more efficiently in guava plants grown without soil mulching. Guava fruit production increases from the first to the second harvest. Fruit quality for titratable acidity, soluble solids, vitamin C and soluble solids/titratable acidity ratio is adequate independently of soil mulching use. Humic substances improve fruit quality of guava cv. Paluma. Under soil and climate conditions, and considering the first two production cycles of guava, it is possible to recommend about 20 mL L-1 of humic substances for production of high quality guava fruits. The present investigation entitled “Effect of different mulching materials on growth and yield of Guava (Psidium guajava L.)” was undertaken at the Experimental Central Orchard of Department of Horticulture, Naini, Agriculture Institute, SHUATS, Prayagraj, during the year 2020-2021 with the Following findings in Randomized Block Design (RBD) having different six mulching materials with 3 plant. From the present investigation it is concluded that the mulching materials of T0 without mulch (based on the moisture), T1 grass, T2 paddy,T3 sugarcane trash, T4 white plastic and T5 black plastic with the different mulching materials is best suited and beneficial for the plant growth, flowering, fruit yield and quality of guava fruit. Application of T5 black plastic was found best in respect of vegetative growth, flowering fruit yield and quality parameters of guava (Psidium guajava L.) cv. Allahabad Safeda.

Vitamin C is one of the essential vitamins for body health. However, vitamin C cannot be produced by the body itself. Thus, to fulfill the vitamin C requirement, it can be obtained by consuming fruits and vegetables. The purpose of this study was to find out and analyze the levels of vitamin C in guava (Psidium guajava L.), crystal guava (Psidium guajava (L.) Merr.), and water guava (Syzygium aquenum). This study used UV-Vis spectrophotometry to analyze the vitamin C content. The results of vitamin C levels in samples such as red guava, crystal guava, and water guava were 21.16 mg/5 g ± 0.005, 20.79 mg/5 g ± 0.029, and 19.16 mg/5 g ± 0.089, respectively. Based on these outcomes, it can be concluded that high levels of vitamin C can be acquired in red guava (Psidium guajava L.)

The relation between pH and the titratable acidity in goat's milk was determined in 102 samples taken from six does at different ages and at different stages of lactation. The average initial pH of goat's milk was 6.34 with minimal and maximal values of 6.20 and 6.55, respectively. Age of milk and pH were highly correlated (r=0.645). The pH readings decreased with age of milk. The average initial titratable acidity value of the milk samples was 0.164% lactic acid (l.a.) within minimal and maximal values of 0.126 and 0.195% l.a. respectively. Titratable acidity values increased with age of milk. Correlation analysis showed a highly significant relationship between the pH and the titratable acidity (r=0.795). As pH readings decreased, the titratable acidity values increased. For every unit decrease in titratable acidity was 0.16% l.a. Fresh goat's milk was more acidic than fresh cow's and buffalo's milk. Goat's milk started to curdle at pH values ranging from 5.45 to 6.15 with titratable acidity values ranging from 0.210 and 0.285% l.a.
