A new species, Myrcia proencana is described from eastern Bolivia. It is known from the Serranía de Huanchaca in the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park. M. proencana is compared with M. torta which is the species most similar. Also, we determined that Psidium hians should be considered as an accepted name, and P. nutans should be included in its synonymy. Additionally, Eugenia paranahybensis, E. pitanga, E. suberosa, Psidium misionum and P. myrsinites are reported as new records for the Bolivian flora.

    Flora
Popularly known as araçá-una, Psidium myrtoides is an endemic tree species in Brazil, with fruits much appreciated by the fauna. It is indicated for the composition of reforestation and for enriching the vegetation of degraded areas. This work aimed to evaluate the effects of drought, heat, and the interaction of both in the physiological attributes of Psidium myrtoides plants. Monitored fluorescence, gas exchange, and chlorophyll index in araçá-una plants induced by drought, heat, and the combination of both during 1, 3, and 7 days after treatment induction (DAT). After, the plants were returned to their initial condition, and their recovery was evaluated at 15 DAT. The results indicate that Psidium myrtoides plants reduce photosynthetic activity in the absence of water, contrary to what has been shown in other studies; in addition, they are not potentiated by the combination with heat. Therefore, we conclude that this species has a potential tolerance to heat (Tmean 30.3 °C). However, if water is available in the soil, it maintains photosynthetic activity at normal levels.

    Reforestation
This study reports for the first time Edessa scabriventris Stål on Eugenia uniflora (Brazilian-cherry) and on Psidium guajava (guava) (Myrtaceae), fruit trees with economic value. Its geographic distribution is extended with records for the states of Alagoas (Maceió Municipality 35°45'11.16''W; 9°40'18.52''S) and Pará (Belém Municipality 48°28'14.65''W; 1°26'14.83''S), north-northeastern Brazil.

A new species, Psidium urquiolanum, from eastern Cuba is described, illustrated, and its distribution is mapped. It has previously been incorrectly identified as P. calycolpoides, a species now assigned to Mosiera. The differences between Psidium and Mosiera are discussed.

Sutwanus guajavae, n. sp., from Costa Rica is described and illustrated. Adults were reared from larvae feeding on Psidium guajava L. (Myrtaceae). A diagnosis is provided for distinguishing the new species from S. nigriceps (Cameron), the only other species in the genus.
