Abstract:
To provide the scientific evidence for expansion of medicinal parts of Zanthoxylum nitidum by comparing the effects of anti-contusion injury, analgesia and anti-inflammation of its root and stem. The pharmacological effects between root and stem of Zanthoxylum nitidum were compared by observing the anti-injury effect in rats with injury struck by hammer. The analgesic effect in mice was evaluated by writhing test and hot plate test, and the anti-inflammatory effect on paw edema induced by carrageenan and granuloma induced by cotton pellet were investigated in rats. Both root and stem of Zanthoxylum nitidum relieved the exterior and histological symptoms of rats' injury legs struck by hammer, decreased the numbers of mice's writhing, enhanced pain threshold of mice on heat plate, inhibited the edema of rats induced by carrageenan, and suppressed the granuloma of rats induced by cotton pellet.Stem of Zanthoxylum nitidum has similar effects of anti-contusion injury, analgesia and anti-inflammation with root of Zanthoxylum nitidum. Keywords:

Anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of Coldenia procumbens Linn. was studied in Wister rats using the carrageenan induced left hind paw edema, carrageenan induced pleurisy and cotton pellet induced granuloma model. The ethanolic extract (150 mg/kg, p.o.) produced the inhibition of carrageenan induced rat paw edema. It also showed an inhibitory effect on leukocyte migration and a reduction on the pleural exudates as well as reduction on the granuloma weight in the cotton pellet granuloma method. The results indicated that the ethanolic extract produced significant (P<0.001) anti-inflammatory activity when compared with the standard and untreated control.

The present investigation was carried out to find the effect of Aponogeton natans (Linn.) leaf and leafstalks various extracts for its anti-inflammatory activity in different experimental animal models. The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using acute inflammatory models like; carrageenan induced paw edema, histamine induced paw edema and chronic inflammatory model like; cotton-pellet induced granuloma models in rats.Oral administration of the methanolic extract at the doses 200 mg/kg body weight exhibited significant anti-inflammatory activity in different models. In carrageenan and histamine induced paw edema Aponogeton natans (Linn.) methanol extract showed maximum inhibition of 60.89% and 53.97% respectively at late phase. In the cotton pellet induced inflammation study in rats, Aponogeton natans (Linn.) methanol extract 200 mg/kg showed significant decrease in wet weight and dry weight of granuloma tissue formation by 52.72% and 43.76% respectively. Hence, present investigation established pharmacological evidences that it can be used as anti-inflammatory agent. A significant percentage inhibition of paw oedema by the methanol extract as compared to control suggests its usefulness in acute and chronic anti-inflammatory models.

Inflammation is the local response of living mammalian tissues to injury due to any agent. It is the body defense reaction in order to eliminate or limit the spread of injurious agent, followed by removal of the necrosed cells and tissues, but the sign and symptoms which are produced during healing process cannot tolerable. The present study was aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of different extracts of Alpinia galanga in wistar albino rats. In this study, both acute and sub-acute inflammation models were used to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of Alpinia galanga. In acute model, carrageenan was used to induce inflammation in rat hind paw and in subacute inflammation, cotton pellets induced granuloma was performed. The extracts have significantly (p = 0.05) decrease in paw edema volume and wet weight and dry weight of Cotton pellets as compared to the untreated vehicle control group.

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammation effects of ZSSKHLG in acute soft tissue injury Model.Method:Animal models of acute and subacute inflammations including ear edema caused by xylene, plantar edema by albumen and granuloma by cotton ball in rats were made to observe the anti-inflammation effects of ZSSKHLG.Acute soft tissue injuring rat model were made and randomly divided into groups.ZSSKHLG or Votalin cream were given to the model animals.1 day,3days,and 5days later, the injured tissue were taken out from the animals and homogenated, the IL-1βcontents were measured through radioimmunity.Result:ZSSKHLG could not only significantly inhibit the ear edema in mice, but relieve the plantar edema and inhibit the granuloma in rats.In addition,it also could significantly decrease the advance of IL-1βin injured soft tissue(P0.01).Conclusion:ZSSKHLG has obvious anti-inflammation effects. It can inhibit the advancing level of IL-1βin injured soft tissue, this may be one of the mechanisms of ZSSKHLG can treat acute soft tissue injury by anti-inflamation.

Objective To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects and the mechanism of Shaoqiduogan. Methods Inflammatory models of granuloma induced by cotton pellet in rats were randomized into groups treated with aspirin(100 mg·kg-1)and Shaoqiduogan(21.25,42.5,85 mg·kg-1).The drugs were intragastrically administered dayly for 7 days. The weight of granuloma was observed.Beside, the edema of the hind paw induced by injecting carrageenan into the hind paw of rats was observed after aspirin(100 mg·kg-1)and Shaoqiduogan(21.25,42.5,85 mg·kg-1)were administered intragastrically for 5 days. The content of prostaglandin E2 in the swelling hind paw of the rats was determined to observe the mechanism. Results Shaoqiduogan could significantly inhibit the granuloma induced by cotton pellet in rats, the hind paw edema induced by carrageenan in rats, and reduce the content of prostaglandin E2 in the swelling hind paw of rat. Conclusion Shaoqiduogan has significant anti-inflammatory effects. Its mechanism is related to reducing the level of prostaglandin E2.
