Objective To investigate the effect of corn silk decoction on the levels of serum GLU,TC,TG,SOD,MDA and NEFA in alloxaninduced diabetic mice. Methods Type I diabetic mice were induced by a twice highdose( 150 mg / kg) fresh alloxan solution and were subject to intraperitoneal injection at an interval of two days. Type II diabetic mice were induced by a high-fat diet( 10% yolk,10% lard oil,1% cholesterol,0. 2% bile salt and 78. 8% base stock) for one month followed by intraperitoneal injection of alloxan at 90 mg·kg1. Then they were treated by intragastric administration of corn silk decoction at the dosage of 18 g / kg for 4 weeks. The antidiabetic effects were observed by determining the levels of fasting blood glucose, glucose tolerance and other blood biochemical indices. Results Corn silk decoction could reduce the levels of GLU,TC,TG and MDA. Also, the activity of SOD was increased in alloxaninduced typ1 and type 2 diabetic mice after treated with corn silk decoction for 4 weeks. Conclusion 4 weeks' treatments of corn silk decoction could alleviated the blood glucose level and other symptoms of diabetes in type I diabetic mice. Moreover, corn silk decoction could significantly reduce blood glucose level and improve lipid metabolism in type II diabetic mice.

Diabetes mellitus comprises a heterogeneous group of metabolic diseases characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and impaired metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins caused by defects in insulin secretion or function. It is said to be the sixth factor of mortality and its complications, if untreated, include: atherosclerosis, nephropathy, neuropathy, foot ulcers, disability and death. To treat diabetes either insulin is administrated or some chemicals that lower blood sugar levels are prescribed. However, due to their various complications, the use of medicinal herbs has been increasingly taken into consideration. In this study, the effects of Hypericum extract on blood parameters in diabetic rats-male Wistar rats-were studied. Methods : In this study, male rats (n =36) were randomly divided into six groups: control, 21 day treated control, 28 day treated control, diabetic, 21 day treated diabetic rats, and 28 day treated diabetic rats. To induce diabetes, streptozotocin was used intraperitoneally at a single dose of 60 mg per 1kg body weight. The treated groups were gavaged with the extract at a dose of 60 mg per kg body weight in a period of 3-4 weeks. After this period, blood serum parameters were measured and the data were analyzed using multivariate analyze of variance Results : The results showed that there is a significant difference between the six groups in parameters FBS, Total P, and Na in blood, and PU, FBSU, KU in urine. Conclusion : The administration of Hypericum extract in the experimental models of diabetes mellitus has improved the biochemical parameters in diabetic rats.

Regarding the various complications of diabetes, searching for methods and means for its treatment are necessary. Since some people use the hazel - leaf decoction for this purpose, the researchers were motivated to test the effect of it on rats and study its mechanism in the succeeding surveys in case of its efficacy. Fifty mg kg of streptozocin was injected intraperitonaly to 12 rats. Then, they were divided into two groups. The 1 experimental group was given 10% Hazel - leaf decoction and control group was received drinking water. The blood glucose level was measured for both the experimental and control groups on the days: 0, 3, 7, 15 and 30. The research revealed that this decoction given reduced blood glucose from the day 7, 15 and 30 significantly (p<0.007, p<0.001, p<0.001, respectively) as compared to the control group.

Objective To observe the effect of Sanling Jiangtang capsules on the experimental diabetes rats that caused by streptozotocin(STZ) and by alloxan, and on blood sugar and sugar tolerance in normal rats. Method STZ-induced rats and alloxan-induced rats were administrated of Sanling Jiangtang capsules(three concentrations) for 5 days and 10 days, respectively. Then the values of blood sugar and of sugar tolerance were observed. Results Sanling Jiangtang capsules can significently reduce the values of blood sugar in alloxan-induced diabetes rats(P0.01); and high-concentration and middle-concentration can clearly deminish the blood sugar level in STZ-induced diabetes rats(P0.05); as far as normal rats, the high-concentration and middle-concentration also have the falling effect(P0.01, P0.05). The middle-concentration can decrease the value of sugar tolerance in normal rats. Conclusion The above results suggest that Sanling Jiangtang capsules have preventive effect on normal rats, alloxan-induced diabetes rats, and STZ-induced diabetes rats.

Diabetes mellitus is a complex disease. In Most of diabetics , the disease causes a new life method and affects their relationships even eating andphysical behaviors. If blood sugar remains in high level for a the long time, it can negatively affect heart, eyes, kidneys, nerves and other parts of the body. Diabetes mellitus is one of the major concerns of the global health community. In treatment diabetes, the goal is to help people to control blood sugar levels along with minimizing the risk of its future side effects. , Herbs have been used as an important source of medicines since ancient times. Many of the plants have been suggested as natural and non-synthetic antioxidants, and it has been shown that the various parts of plants contain antioxidants. In this study, the aim of this study was to compare and compare the different doses of superoxide dismutase enzyme extracts and total antioxidant capacity and malondialdehyde in adult male diabetic rats. Thirty two male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups (8 rats per each group) Treatments were as follows: (1) healthy controls, (2) diabetic without treatment, (3) diabetic and treated with 1 ml pistachios leaf extract and (4), diabetes and treated with 1.5 ml of pistachios leaf extract. Alloxan was injected intraperitoneally in order to induce diabetes. After 72 hours of injection, blood samples were taken from tail vein of all rats to determine blood sugar level. . After confirmation of the disease, rats were orally treated with the extract for 30 days. After the end of the experiment, rats were anesthetized by ether and cardiac puncture was performed to study the oxidative stress parameters. Changes in superoxide dismutase were compared between groups. The results showed that the amount of superoxide dismutase increased in groups 3 and 4 compared to the diabetic group, and this increase was significant in group 3. All doses of extract were able to increase the serum total antioxidant capacity of rats to diabetic group significantly. Also, in the case of malondialdehyde, the extract has been able to reduce the MDA in different groups in comparison to the diabetic group. The decrease was related to 1 cc treatment. According to these results, it can be concluded that the hydroalcoholic extract of pistachio leaves as an antioxidant agent can contribute to reducing the damage caused by oxidative stresses of diabetes.

The use of additional medicines by patients with chronic medical illness like diabetes mellitus is on the increase. We investigated the effect of fruit juice of Morinda citrifolia on blood glucose of diabetic rats alone or when combined with insulin.Twenty adult male Sprague Dawley rats with body weights 140-210 g were used for the experiments. They were randomly allocated into groups of five, with five rats in each group. The first group, (Group A) served as control and received standard rat chow and water, throughout the duration of the study. Group B received noni juice treatment, after induction of diabetes, for 4 weeks. Group C rats received fixed dose insulin treatment (Humilin 70/30) in two divided doses, at a dose of 0.6 units/Kg body weight/day, following induction of diabetes, for 4 weeks. The Group D rats received fixed dose insulin as well as noni juice, following induction of diabetes for 4 weeks. We monitored blood glucose level by measuring fasting blood sugar weekly. The result of the experiments show that after an initial hyperglycemia, following alloxan induced diabetes, treatment with noni juice restored reduced blood sugar but euglycaemia was not achieved (Group B).At the end of 4 weeks of experimentation. The mean fasting blood sugar level of 8.0 +/- 0.8 mmol/L following combination therapy, in which insulin treatment was combined with noni juice for 4 weeks, was lower than when either noni juice 15.4 +/- 1.5 mmol/L or insulin was used alone (P < 0.05). 12.9 +/- 1.6 mmol/L.In this study, a synergistic action with insulin was demonstrated by fruit juice of Morinda citrifolia.
