    Abstract:
Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/polypropylene grafted maleic anhydride(PP-g-MAH) blend films were prepared by melting process. The differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) was adopted to develop the crystallization and melting behavior of the blends. Results showed that with the increasing of PP-g-MAH content(less than 50 %),the crystallization and melting temperature of PVA phase increased, the crystallization rate rose, but crystallinity decreased. While with the increasing of PVA content(more than 30 %),the crystallization and melting temperature of PP-g-MAH phase decreased, crystallinity decreased, but the crystallization rate increased. The non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of PVA phase in the blend was studied according to Ozawa′s theory. Results showed that the primary crystallization of PVA phase was in a temperature range of 191~197 ℃,secondary crystallization was in a temperature range of 173~189 ℃.

Abstract Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) nanoparticles were functionalized with toluene‐2,4‐diisocyanate and then polypropylene/polyamide 6/(PP/PA6) blends containing functionalized‐TiO 2 were prepared using a twin screw extruder. Isothermal crystallization and melting behavior of the as‐prepared composites were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. Isothermal crystallization analysis shows that the TiO 2 nanoparticles have two effects on PP/PA6 blends, i.e., it can favor the improvement of crystallization ability and decrease the crystallization rate of PP/PA6 blends. The improvement of crystallization ability is superior over decreasement of crystallization rate of PA6 chains caused by TiO 2 , therefore PA6 in PP/PA6/TiO 2 nanocomposites have higher crystallization rate than that of PA6 in pure PP/PA6 blends, which indicated TiO 2 nanoparticles favored the crystallization of PA6. The TiO 2 nanoparticles show no effects on the equilibrium melting temperature ( T ) values of PP phase but decreases the T values of PA6 phase. In addition, the TiO 2 nanoparticles did not change the crystalline polymorph of PP/PA6 blends basically; however, favored the formation of β‐PP. POLYM. PP/PS blends modified by grafted PP and reactive monomer were prepared by twin screw extruder. The crystallization and melt behavior of modified blends were investigated by DSC. Three reactive monomers, AA- g-PP and MA- g -PP were used as modifying agent. The results indicated that addition of PS increased the crystallization temperature of PP. AA- g -PP and MA- g -PP further increased the crystallization temperature of PP in its blends. Although reactive monomer at low content slightly aecreased the crystallization temperature of PP in the blends, the addition of styrene at high content increased the crystallization temperature of PP. All blends show no remarkable variety in melt temperature, but the shapes of melt peak is influenced by crystallization temperature.

The isothermal crystallization behavior of PP-g-MAH was measured using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and the kinetics of isothermal crystallization was analyzed with Avrami equation.Effects of MAH grafting ratio, the extent of PP degradation, and the structure of grafting comonomers on the kinetics of isothermal crystallization of PP-g-MAH were examined. The MAH groups grafted onto PP could promote the formation of nucleation rate, giving rise to an increased crystallization rate. However, the enhanced intermolecular force, from the high degree of MAH grafting ratio, restricted the segment motion and resulted in the slowing down of the crystallization process. The isothermal crystallization of PP-g-MAH was controlled by the nucleation rate at high temperature region, and as a result, the crystallization rate of PP-g-MAH decreased as the extent of PP degradation during the melt grafting process increased. When divinyl benzene was used as the grafting comonomer, the rigid group and the possible micro-crosslinking structure hindered the crystallization.

The effect of K resin on the crystallization behavior of polypropylene/ polystyrene(PP/PS) blends were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC).Three methods, namely,Avrami,Ozawa and Mo,were carried out to analyze the non-isothermal crystallization data. The results showed that only Mo method described the crystallization behaviors successfully, and K resin didn't change the nucleation and growth patterns but decreased the crystallization rate and crystallinity.
