Because of drastically increasing use of touchscreen devices the need for development of their user interface has increased accordingly. Graphical user interface is the main means of communication with the device. Hence, its development has become absolutely vital. The main goal of such development is simplicity, which enables less adept users to use these screens. The main topic of this thesis is the development of graphical user interface from user demands to finished user interface. Emphasis is put on testing mockups and the live version of the user interface with final users. All processes are documented with examples from practice. The approach for the development of an user interface, which I described in this thesis, has been used in the development of a graphical user interface for touch screens for an application, that is in use in medical institutions.

Graphical user interface design is system engineering which faces to user, the purpose of which is to accurately and quickly deliver information between user and designer, and realize function;which is also to optimize product performance and minimize the cognition burden for the public.Problems in nine aspects should be cared about in design were analyzed and discussed with successful cases analysis of graphical user interface design.

The increasing availability of computers with high-quality graphics and fonts has created an opportunity and an obligation for user interface designers. The opportunity is that designers can use graphical techniques to design more effective user interfaces. The obligation is that they must become experts at the design of graphical user interfaces. Current user interface toolkits provide very little design assistance. This paper describes a theory that supports automatic design of graphical presentations of relational information and shows how to extend it to support theory-driven design of graphical user interfaces.

The Demonstrational Rapid User Interface Development (DRUID) user interface management system (UIMS), which aims to help user interface designers create interactive, graphical direct-manipulation user interfaces through graphical interaction, is described. In DRUID, the designer creates the layout of the interface using interactive graphical facilities and demonstrates to the UIMS, through graphical interaction, how the end-user might interact with the interface. From this demonstration, DRUID determines the details of the interface and automatically produces an implementation of it. An example of how DRUID is used to create user interfaces is given.< >

Graphical user interfaces are an evolution of the command line user interfaces of the past. Graphical user interfaces allow users to interact with devices while using the metaphor of a desktop surface. As technology evolved, user interfaces became more elaborate, going through various design phases such as skeuomorphism and modern, flat design. User interfaces have become more simplified and use fewer non-essential design elements. This also allows for easier cross-platform development. Due to the widespread adoption of technology, clear user interfaces that put usability first, have and will become very important in the years to come. We present the very beginnings of the GUI, its evolution through the years and finally focus on modern graphical user interfaces while also going over various problems

The authors describe a novel approach to a user interface management system (UIMS), which does not need much programming effort constructing graphical user interfaces. Using a conventional UIMS, designers can develop a graphical user interface by combination of user-interface parts such as menus or meters. But in this approach, a variety of user-interface parts are needed to build a graphical user interface customized for a particular application, and it is also difficult to prepare all parts types beforehand. The authors extend the UIMS concept by which a designer can build a graphical user interface for a particular application without any programming. Its main points are: (1) not only using the parts, but drawing a picture for display design by a graphical editor, (2) then relating the picture to an application program, and (3) adding echoing functions to the picture by deciding how to manipulate figures using interactive methods.< >
