    Abstract The larva and pupa of Notonesius aucklandicus Kuschel, living in saturated peat soil on the Auckland Islands, some 500 km south of New Zealand, are described and figured. The ‘rat-tail’ type of aquatic adaptation in the larva appears to be unique among Coleoptera, although an evolutionary progression towards it can be traced among Indian weevils.

    Larvae of Stilpnonotus postsignatus Fairmaire, 1889 were collected inside a hard log in Peruíbe, São Paulo, Brazil; reared adults were identified. A description of the larva, pre-pupa and pupa are provided with ilustrations.
    The article contains the first, detailed and illustrated description of the larvae and pupae of Thryogenes fiorii and Th. nereis. It presents the distinguishing features of developmental stages (e.g. setal index) of both species. The diagnostic characters of larva and pupa of the genus Thryogenes are also given. The larva and the pupa of the genus Thryogenes present some morphological characters uncommon by the other, described immature stages of Curculionidae.     Unknown male, larva and pupa of Stibasoma theotaenia from northern Argentina are described and illustrated. Larvae were collected from terrestrial Bromeliaceae of Aechnea sp. and maintained in the laboratory through development.
    The poorly known mature larvae (L3) of Haploglossa piczpennis (Gyllenhal, 1827) and H. nidicola (Fairmaire, 1852) and also hitherto unknown pupal cocoon and pupa of H. picipennis are described in detail, with the illustrations of structural features and setal pattern provided. The differences of the mature larvae between these two species and other known Aleocharinae larvae belonging to the tribes Athetini, Homalotini, Hoplandriini, Liparocephalini, Lomechusini and Oxypodini are presented. The diagnostic larval characters for the genus Haploglossa are proposed for the first time. The differences between pupa of H. picipennis and pupa Of Pella laticollis (Markell, 1844) are listed. Data on the distribution and ecological requirements of both H. picipennis and H. nidicola are also provided.

    Larva and pupa of Aeolus cinctus Candèze, 1859 are described and adult redescribed. The larvae were collected inside termite nests and reared in laboratory. This is the first description of Aeolus immatures from Neotropical region and the second to the genus. Besides, it is the first record to the genus inside termite nest. The comparison with larva of A. mellilus (Say) is also presented.
    The mature larva and pupa of the Australian silvanid species, Macrohyliota militaris (Erichson) are described from laboratory reared material. This is the first description of immature stages of Silvanidae from Australia. The larva of M. militaris conforms to the general body shape and apparent morphological features of known Brontini and is very similar to the Asian M. sculptus Yoshida & Hirowatari. Larval and pupal features of M. militaris are compared with other known larvae and pupae of Brontini described in the literature.
