    Abstract:
    An efficient and simple catalytic system based on RuCl3 dissolved in ionic liquids has been developed for the oxidation of alcohols into aldehydes and ketones under mild conditions. A new fluorinated ionic liquid, 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium pentadecafluorooctanoate, was synthesized and demonstrated better performance that the other ionic liquids employed. Moreover this catalytic system utilizes molecular oxygen as an oxidizing agent, producing water as the only by-product.

    Abstract A novel magnetic supported dicationic ionic liquid namely Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 ⋅DIL has been prepared, and characterized by various analysis methods such as FT‐IR, TEM, SEM, XRD, EDX, EDX mapping, and TGA. Afterward, catalytic activity of the Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 ⋅DIL has been examined in alcohols oxidation reaction. The resulting new nanocomposite as a heterogeneous catalyst displayed remarkable activity for the oxidation of various alcohols using H 2 O 2 under mild reaction conditions. Eventually, the as‐prepared Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 ⋅DIL catalyst was also stable and reused at least five times without losing its catalytic activity and selectivity. Magnetic recoverability of the catalyst, high yields, good compliance with green chemistry protocols and economical are some advantages of the work.
