Both polystyrene films and polystyrene films filled with fullerenes (C60) were fabricated by the solution cast method. Mechanism of fullerene-polystyrene interaction, the structural characteristics of films, and their antimicrobial activity were researched. We found that the polystyrene/fullerene composite films manifest bacteriostatic and fungistatic effect.

The following paper indicates variants of new materials obtained with various organic alloy elements. Our research has used recoverable silicone rubber, obtained from used scrapped silicone rubber, used for the tyre of 24 kV composite electrical insulators as a basic matrix, under the form of silicone powder, liquid silicone rubber to various proportions, along with nanopowders obtained through recycling

Thermal gravimetric analysis (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) experiments were used to investigate the thermal decomposition characteristics and kinetics of polystyrene and polystyrene/fir, which are of potential interests for the development of renewable energy. The results show polystyrene takes place only one step weight loss, while polystyrene/fir takes place two-step weight loss. The thermal decomposition peak temperature of polystyrene shifts to higher temperature in the presence of fir, but the main reaction temperature range of polystyrene becomes narrow. The kinetic behaviors were investigated under different heating rates by using Kissinger method and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method. The activation energy of polystyrene is larger than that of polystyrene/fir. This can explain that fir promotes the decomposition of polystyrene. The experimental results and kinetic parameters may provide useful data for the design of co-pyrolytic processing of polystyrene/fir.

The physical and chemical properties of three sorts of organic silicone(polydimethlsiloxane, hydroxy silicone oil and amino silicone oil) were tested, and their application properties in chemical fiber of wig were compared.Appropriate organic silicone emulsion was selected. The results showed that the appropriate organic silicone emulsion should be reactive and compound. And the viscosity of polydimethlsiloxane was greater than 300Pa·s,the viscosity of amino silicone oil was about 10Pa·s,and its amino-value was about 0.4mmol/g.

Objective: To study the inhibition effects of silicone molecule on fibroblasts and the mechanisms of silicone gel sheet on hypertrophic scar. Methods: The scar-derived fibroblasts were incubated in culture medium with silicome oil of different concentrations (1 ∶ 40-1 ∶ 25 600) mixed and emulsified with Towen-20 by ultrasonic wave. The effects of inhibition of silicone molecule to fibroblasts were evaluate.Cytoactivity was determined by MTT. 102 healed burned-wounds of 51 patients were studied, 51 of 102 healed wounds were treated by silicone gel sheets to compare with the control groups. Results: ①The cytoactivity of fibroblasts was suppressed significantly compared with the PBS groups with different concentration of silicone oil ranged from 1 ∶ 3 200 to 1 ∶ 12 800 (P0.001). ②Excellent appearances and functions of healed wounds were examined for patients treatmented with silicone gel sheets at least 3 months compared with the control groups. Conclusion:Silicone gel sheets can help hypertrophic scar structure to be conversed to be structure of normal skin and improve the appearance and functions of the wounds healed.Silicone molecule may demonstrate the inhibition mechanism to the fibroblasts.

To investigate the effect of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) on the physical interaction (contact angle) between silicone oil and a silicone intraocular lens (IOL).In vitro experiments were performed, to determine the effect of HPMC (0.5%, 1% or 2%), with or without an additional simple mechanical manoeuvre, on the contact angle of silicone oil at the surface of both silicone and acrylic (control) IOLs. A balanced salt solution chamber was used. The study group comprised 21 silicone and nine acrylic IOLs.The median contact angle of silicone oil on silicone IOL was 99 degrees. The addition of HPMC 2% alone did not significantly alter the contact angle. HPMC 2% combined with an additional single mechanical manoeuvre increased the contact angle to 180 degrees (greater non-wetting), with complete separation of silicone oil from silicone IOL within 1 min. The manoeuvre alone, or in conjunction with a lower concentration of HPMC (0.5 or 1%), was ineffective in increasing the contact angle. We present a novel, non-toxic technique of using hydroxypropylmethylcellulose 2% combined with a simple mechanical manoeuvre, for the removal of adherent silicone oil droplets from silicone intraocular lenses.
