The pressure-induced structural phase transitions of e- and γ-CL-20 were studied by Raman and mid-infrared spectroscopy up to 60 GPa. In this work, the phase transition of CL-20 from the e-phase to the γ′-phase starts at 0.9 GPa and ends at 4.4 GPa. The γ′-phase in this work is distinctly different from the γ-phase recognized by the energetic community in terms of the structure and properties. Subsequently, the η phase starts at 6.9 GPa and ends at 10.6 GPa because of the slight cage distortion. With further increase of the loading pressure, two new phases, φ and ι, were observed at 28 and 50 GPa, respectively. The infrared results are consistent with Raman results and show that similar phase regions are observed for CL-20 under high pressures. The behavior of the γ-phase under pressure indicates that the ζ-phase appears at 1.3 GPa and sustains its stability up to 47.4 GPa. The current results prove that the newly discovered γ′-phase is evidently distinct from the γ-phase and they undergo different phase transition routes under loading compression.

Very stable dicalcium phosphate(DCP) against NaF was prepared by heat treatment at 200°C with adding Mg compound and condensed phosphate to DCP anhydrous. The crystal form and surface morphology of the improved DCP anhydrous were compared to that of standard DCP anhydrous. These characteristics were the same as those of standard DCP anhydrous. Although our surface modification technology was considered to keep the original characteristics of standard DCP anhydrous, even the crushed sample by an agate mortar showed a sufficient stability against NaF.

Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of phase B (Mg12Si4O21H2), anhydrous B (Mg14Si5O24) and superhydrous B (Mg10Si3O18H4) were calculated using recently published structural data to facilitate phase identification by powder XRD technique. Comparison of these patterns with those of the previously reported hydrous phases revealed that superhydrous B and phase C are actually an identical phase. The XRD patterns were then used to identify the phases which appeared in the previous high-pressure experiments by the present author. A newly derived dehydration reaction of phase A (Mg7Si2O14H6) is as follows: 3 phase A = 2superhydrous B+Mg(OH)2+4H2O. The reaction was observed at 14 GPa and 1100°C. Superhydrous B coexisting with silica-rich phase was also detected in the 2Mg(OH)2+SiO2 system at ≥17 GPa. Therefore, superhydrous B might be stabilized in subducting slab at those depths.

Abstract Some important precursors (1,6‐anhydrous‐2‐deoxy‐2‐azido‐ β‐D ‐glucopyranose ( 3) , 1,6‐anhydrous‐2‐deoxy‐2‐ azido‐3,4‐di‐ O ‐benzyl‐ β‐D ‐mannopyranose ( 5 ), 1,6:2,3‐dianhydrous ‐ β‐D ‐glucopyranose ( 6 ), 1,6‐anhydrous‐3‐deoxy‐3‐azido‐ β‐D ‐glucopyranose ( 10 ) and 1,6‐anhydrous‐2,4‐di‐ O ‐benzoyl‐ β‐D ‐glucopyranose ( 11 )) for complex oligosaccharide synthesis were readily prepared from a green starting material 1,6‐anhydrous ‐ β‐D ‐glucopyranose in one or two steps with moderate to high yields. These improved methods established herein will greatly facilitate the assembly of some complex oligosaccharides for the biological study.

The article deals with the problem of preparing single crystals of anhydrous sulphates of amphoteric metals lead and tin. It gives a comprehensive review on up to date recent knowledge on the chemical and physical properties of these sulphates and, in addition, it describes some methods of preparing their pure anhydrous form. It also informs about the experiments of single crystal growth. It draws attention to several possibilities of the solution of this problem, which is still not satisfactorily solved.

To compare the effects of different solvents on the determination of water in erythromycin and explain why anhydrous methanol solvent makes the experiment result higher, Karl Fisher method is used to determine the water in erythromycin , with anhydrous methanol as solvent or anhydrous pyridine . And the result is compared with that of Weightlessness method. It turns out that experiment result with anhydrous pyridine as solvent is closer to weightlessness method. So it is better to determine the water in erythromycin with anhydrous pyridine solvent.
