Clinical analysis of lamellar keratoplasty for limbal dermoids

Objective to evaluate the effect of lamellar keratoplasty for limbal dermoids.Methods 22 patients(13 female,9 male,agerange,8 months-20 years) with 23 limbal dermoids in 22 eyes who underwent lamellar keratoplasty between 1984 and 2005 were identified to assess the surgical out comea of appearance,vision,graft survival and integrity,surgical complication in patients with histoloically proven limbal dermoid choristomat.Results The cure rate is 100 percent.19 patients has the visual acuity outcomes.After amblyopia tredtment,the visual acuity of 7 patients shpwed no improcenment 10 patients showed a little improvement,2patients showed some improvement.Most(19 of 22)patients had good or excellent cosmetic results and clear gratt.2 cases with previously excised lesions had only moderate cosmetic results and some associated interface haze.1 cases which had peroperative vascularization around huge huge lesion had poor cosmetic result and opaque graft.Conclusion LKP is an effective therapy.Earlier operate,better outcomes.
