Progress of the Metal Film Aimed to Explain the Synthetic Diamond Growth Mechanism

The metal film surrounding diamond single crystal plays a very important role during the course of diamond growth from a metallic catalyst-graphite at high temperature and high pressure.Study on the film may be of great significance to indicate diamond growth mechanism.So the recent progress of diamond growth mechanism in the facets of the metal film's morphology,composition,microstructure,and investigation on the basis of EET(empirical electron theory in solid and molecules) and TFDC(Improved Thomas-Fermi-Dirac-Cheng) are summarized in this paper,and at the same time the research directions for the future on the film are put forward.
