Business Rules Management Systems

Recently, the notion of business rules management systems (BRMS) emerges in the business people community as a new category of knowledge-based decision support systems. The paper reviews the basic principles of business rules and shows how they are influenced by expert systems, developed in the artificial intelligence community more than 30 years ago.
