Synthesis of MoS 2 nanorods via a new controllable hydrothermal method: A study of pressure effect and optical absorption property

2013
In this paper, a controllable hydrothermal method was performed to synthesis MoS 2 nanorods assisted with certain pressure, examined by means of XRD, TG/DSC, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, and UV-vis. MoS 2 nanorods with the diameter about 100 nm were obtained. The influence of the pressure on sizes, morphologies and physicochemical properties of the products were discussed. With the pressure increasing, the as-prepared products show blue shift in UV-vis absorption. The density of state and the band structure were also studied. Based on the controlled experiments and observation on the morphological changes, a possible formation mechanism was preliminarily presented. As claimed by the results, pressure could offering a very powerful way for the synthesis of novel morphology. The present study attempts to shed some light on the role of pressure in influencing the physicochemical properties of the molybdenum disulfide.
