Surface coating and fixing unit

A fuser unit comprising a substrate and a release layer disposed on the substrate is described. The release layer contains a nonwoven matrix of a plurality of polymer fibers. Each of the plurality of polymer fibers has a diameter of about 5 nm to about 50 μm. A crosslinked siloxyfluorocarbon polymer is dispersed throughout the majority of polymer fibers. The plurality of polymer fibers is about 5 wt% to about 50 wt% of the release layer. In embodiments, the polymer fibers are enveloped by a fluoropolymer sheath.
