A random sample survey using a self-report ques- tionnaire was given to registered nurses and nurse assistants of Army hospitals of Northern Greece. The response rate was 42,6% (N=110). The Warr- Cook-Wall job satisfaction scale measures overall job satisfaction and satisfaction with fifteen aspects of work. Each item is rated on a seven-point Likert scale. The association between relationship factors and organizational outcomes such as job satisfac- tion, turnover intentions and organizational com- mitment are assessed. Descriptive statistics were used in order to summarize the results. Nurses with highest education were significantly more likely to be very satisfied (p=0,018). Results of the regression analysis when performing Pearson correlation coefficients (correlation signif- icance at the level 0,05 two-tailed) showed that the decrease in job satisfaction was predicted by week- end work p= 0,020, r= -0,222 by night shift p= 0,005, r= -0,266 . Results of the regression analysis showed that the increase in job satisfaction was predicted by years of service p=0,002, r= 0,297 and by age p=0,008, r= 0,252. The percentage of nurses that reported that the ward they worked constitu- ted their personal choice was the 32%. Nurses who worked in a department of their choice were cor- related with job satisfaction (p=0,015). 63% believe that nursing profession is not socially awarded. Although a majority of military nurses were satis- fied with their job, they were experiencing a num- ber of pressures at work.
