Optical Diagnostics of an air plasma formed with a non-transferred arc plasma torch

2010
A 100 kW non transferred arc torch is used to create an air plasma at atmospheric pressure. The operating power is 24 kW. Spectral emission measurements have been made for two different heights, at the torch exit and 10 mm away. From an intensity calibration of the optical device, temperature radial profiles of the plasma are computed with different methods : the intensity ratio method using atomic lines, the absolute line intensity method with the calculation of composition at equilibrium using a Gibbs energy minimization code developed at the laboratory and finally the fitting of experimental molecular using Spartan code.
