Simulated experimental studies on measuring grease stain thickness in oil pipeline by quasi-parallel incident acute angle scattering

2008
Paraffin layers under a steel plate were used to simulate oil crust in pipelines by detecting scattered γ-rays in different solid angles from a 60Co source, which irradiated the specimen in quasi-parallel incidence. A linear rela-tionship was obtained between the counting rates of the scattering γ-rays and the paraffin thickness. The best sensitiv-ity of measurement is 1181/mm, with the linearity coefficient of 0.9909.
