Reform strategy and preliminary achievements of farming system in cropland for rice and vegetable in Guangdong

Two serious problems in farming system of Guangdong,the conflict between food security and profit increase of paddy land and the conflict between cultivation and natural process,and their causes were analyzed.The causes were improper emphasis on direct profit of cropland and excessive use of quality and quantity of cropland.Therefore,the traditional conception should be broken through and the rotation of vegetable-rice-vegetable high efficiency farming system(123 farming pattern) was put forward as the strategy to reform farming system in cropland for rice and vegetable in Guangdong.The scientific and technique connotation of 123 farming pattern and essence of the innovation were elaborated and preliminary achievements of the new pattern was summarized.
