A Broadband Current-Mode X-Hall Sensor for Smart Power and Metering Applications

2021
This paper presents the design of a fully-integrated X-Hall sensor operated in current mode without any spinning technique. It demonstrates its utility by meeting the broadband demand of power and energy applications by achieving an estimated acquisition bandwidth of 11.6 MHz. The X-Hall probe is interfaced with a self-biased transimpedance amplifier having a transimpedance gain equivalent to 200 k$\Omega$. With a sensitivity of 4%$T^{-1}$ for the Hall probe, the overall sensor consumes nearly 50 times less power and occupies half the area than the state of the art. The prototype is implemented using 90-nm microelectronic process from STMicroelectronics.
