Pharmacological Properties of the Putative 5-HT4 Receptor in Guinea-Pig Ileum and Rat Oesophagus: Role in Peristalsis

The occurrence and pharmacological profile of the putative 5-HT4 receptor in peripheral tissues is discussed, and evidence is presented that the putative receptor mediates relaxation of the rat oesophagus and functions to facilitate the peristaltic reflex in guinea-pig ileum.
