Pollen grains from oak tree are monad, prolate, and oval with sub-parallel equatorial region. Also it are tricolpate with relatively short, straight furrows. Surface verrucate to scabrate sculpture with elements of various sizes. Pollen grains from darea (Actinidia arguta) are monad, subprolate, rounded, and tricolporate. Surface reticulate-fine with spaced rods exine. Pollen cell walls were torn and the cytoplasm was exposed after lyophilizing, while cell walls were disrupted or cut after pulverizing. The antioxidant activities of pollen extracts were evaluated by DPPH radical scavenging methods, FRAP, and SOD like activity. The antioxidant activity measured by the DPPH (2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging method, indicated that the ethanolic extracts had greater antioxidant activities than the aqueous extracts in pollens from oak and darea, and moreover the lyophilized oak pollen exhibited the highest value of antioxidant activity (81%). The content of rutin was the highest in the pulverized oak pollen, while that of quercetin was the most abundant in the lyophilized oak pollen.
