Treatment of Capsule Contraction Syndrome after Cataract Phacoemulsification with Nd:YAG Laser

Objective To observe the effect of Nd:YAG Laser on the treatment of capsule contraction syndromeafter cataract phacoemulsification.Methods The clinical data of 35 eyes with capsule contraction syndrome aftercataract phacoemulsification from Mar.of 2004 to Mar.of 2005 were analyzed retrospectively.All the eyesreceived the Nd:YAG laser anterior capsulotomy.The follow-up period was 5.7±2.5 months(ranged from 3 to 9months).Results The postoperative visual acuity of 35 eyes was not worse than the preoperative one.Thedevelopment of capsule contraction was stopped.No severe complication was observed.Conclusion The Nd:YAGlaser anterior capsulotomy is safe and effective to treat the capsule contraction syndrome,and the early treatmentshould be better.
