Fundamental Principles of a Stem Cell Biobank

2014
The aim of a Stem Cell Bank is not to collect a large number of distinct individual cells but collect, store, and distribute particular cell types based on strong scientific evidences. There is a growing demand for human stem cell lines of varying origin (e.g. embryonic, induced pluripotent, and somatic) and grades (e.g. research and clinical) in response to the expectation that scientific knowledge gained from their use, will radically improve our ability to understand and treat diseases, enhance drug development, and generate new clinical therapies.
