Two-dimensional modelling of resistivity and magnetotelluric data from the Belvedere Spinello salt mine, Italy

Mining the Earth's resources may often cause serious problems to the environment . In this study, mining of an evaporitic layer particularly rich in salt has caused the formation of underground cavities filled with brine . This brine has spread in all directions and probably upwards too, in largely unknown ways .
