Hemorrhages in myopia (based on clinical and fluorescence angiographic data)

1989
: The authors analyze the results of examinations of 50 patients (70 eyes) with complicated high myopia, corrected by contact lenses. The mean visual acuity of patients in spectacles has been 0.21, in contact lenses 0.45. Hemorrhages in the fundus oculi have been detected in all the patients, these hemorrhages being a complication of myopia. Basing on the clinical and fluorescent angiography data, the authors have distinguished 2 types of myopic hemorrhages, differing in the origin, course, and outcome. Recommendations on the treatment, strategy and optic correction for patients with high myopia complicated with hemorrhages in the fundus oculi are given.
