Fluorocarbon siloxane compound

PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound, having a high fluorine content and low surface energy, excellent in chemical resistance and useful as various solvents, mold release agents, etc. CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I [R is 1-8C monofunctional hydrocarbon; (a) and (b) are 1-4; (c) is 1-3]. This compound is obtained by reacting a fluorocarbon disilanol of formula II in the presence of an acidic compound at 70-120°C. The acidic compound such as a fluorocarbon-based carboxylic acid used as a dehydration condensing catalyst is added in an amount of 0.001-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. compound of formula II. This compound is useful as an additive for fluororubber or silicone rubber for improving the mold releasability from a metallic mold and flexibility in rolling operation or pressing and further as an oil and a raw material for elastomers excellent in solvent and chemical resistance and surface characteristics.
