Simulation Investigating in System Fault and Protection of High Power Laser Pulse Power Source

The system faults of short circuit of bus bars to earth, broken down of a capacitor, et al, cause the damage of the structure of power source system and the capacitors. Fault current and energy flowing into the broken capacitor are simulated using Pspice, and the principle of selection of parameters of protection elements are simulated and analyzed. The optimum values of the protection elements are also given. The results of simulations are successfully applied in power source of high power laser system.
