Reapretamiento cuaternario del arco cantábrico en el Manto de la Sobia (zona cantábrica, NO de España)

2019
The Sobia nappe is located westerly of Cantabria Zone. Its symform structure has been bended by the Cantabrian Arc during Variscan orogeny. Carboniferous limestone outcropping along this structure is forming an arcuate mountain range during Alpine orogeny. However, the map of cemented scree and rock-avalanche deposits cut by reverse and lateral faults are evidencing a Quaternary tectonic reactivation. U/Th dating of the calcite coating the blocks within the cemented calcareous avalanche deposits indicating that the avalanche deposits cemented since Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 9a to MIS 1. Kinematic of the active faults are consistent with the N-S tightening of the Cantabrian Arc. This current tectonic is given a progressive uplift of range ca. 200 m southward
