A coherent light source apparatus and projector

2013
Provided are a coherent light source device and projector that avoid the problem, which unavoidably occurs when coherent light from a semiconductor laser or other laser is projected, that the uniformity of the projected light is degraded as a result of speckle. This coherent light source device has a first light-emission region formed by a coherent light source and is provided with the following: first optics that project the light from the first light-emission region so as to form a second light-emission region; a light-deflecting means, near the second light-emission region, that deflects a light beam involved in the formation of the second light-emission region; second optics placed after the light-deflecting means; and a light-mixing means, placed after the second optics, for mixing the angle and position components of light beams incident upon the input end thereof. An image conjugate to the first light-emission region is formed at a distance by the second optics, and a third light-emission region substantially conjugate to the exit pupil of the first optics is formed at the input end by the second optics. The light-deflecting means continually moves so as to progressively change the direction in which the abovementioned light beam is deflected.
