Beneficiation of phosphate ores using high gradient magnetic separation

1993
Abstract Phosphate ores from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh were subjected to two-stage high gradient magnetic separation using magnetic coating with magnetite and sodium oleate. Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate was used to prevent the coating of magnetite on phosphate in the first stage whereas sodium metasilicate was used to prevent the coating on silica in the second stage. The results indicate that HGMS combined with an appropriate reagent scheme to condition the mineral surfaces results in selectivity.
