Erosion profile of a radio frequency planar magnetron sputtering target with aperture shield

We have measured the erosion profile of a fully utilized, 8 in. diam gold target from an rf planar magnetron system that has an aperture shield between the sputter target and the substrate carrier. The depth of erosion was not cylindrically symmetric with respect to the center of this planar disk target.
