THE TORE SUPRA POLOIDAL FIELD SYSTEM

The aims of the Tore Supra Poloidal Field System are to induce, provide equilibrium for and maintain during half a minute, a plasma current of 1.7 MA with poloidal β values up to 3.5. The main options of the Tore Supra Poloidal Field System are: a saturated Iron core transformer- a single poloidal field coil system, all coils located outside the toroidal field coils, connected in parallel with differential voltage control -the use of a 1.1 GVA thyristor DC breaker - a direct supply from the 400 kV network.
