A readout and monitor system for a multiwire spark chamber by magnetostrictive delay line

Abstract The magnetostrictive delay line method is applied to reading out t the data of a large multiwire spark chamber, and a paper puncher is used as a recording device. The details of this system are described. The monitoring system of this chamber is found to be very useful not only for monitoring the performance of the spark chamber, but also for the adjustment of the circuits. The accuracy of the determination of particle tracks by this chamber is about 1.3 mm, and the resolution of two tracks is about 1 cm.
