Rehabilitation on Failures and Maintenance of Flexible Pavement (Kyeinbinse-Setkawt-Danubyu-Zalun) Portion

2014
This paper presents corresponding rehabilitation activities of the Kyeinbinse- Setkawt- Danubyu- Zalun road portion (Myanmar). The purpose of this study is to improve the Kyeinbinse- Setkawt- Danubyu- Zalun road portion in order to provide a satisfactory surface over which vehicles can operate rapidly, safely, effectively. Moreover, the study is intended for every road user to be convenient. Rehabilitation activity is carried out along the Kyeinbinse- Setkawt- Danubyu- Zalun road portion (0/0-35/7). Deflection data and required field data are collected from the Road Research Laboratory, Thuwanna, and Yangon. The required overlay thickness is evaluated in accordance with AC Pavement Rehabilitation Design. According to the field study, the selected road surface is worse in the rainy season. The failure patterns that are found along the selected road are polished aggregate, edge failure, depression, rutting, patching, bleeding, potholes, longitudinal cracking, meandering cracking, raveling, transverse cracking and delimitation. Somewhere, the wearing surface and base course of this selected portion are open out. Then, cracking combined with other failure pattern are mostly found according to the visual investigation. Required overlay pavement designs are carried out for structural maintenance operation. For structural maintenance, the required overlay thickness is evaluated in accordance with deflection based procedure. Finally, the maintenance of shoulders and drainage system are carried out for this selected road portion.
