A thermodynamic method is proposed to determine the optimal conditions for the synthesis of complex oxides employing self-propagating reactions. This permits estimation of heat effects and changes in Gibbs energy and entropy with the aid of standard thermodynamic functions, and also calculation of the temperatures of synthesized products in the adiabatic approximation.
