Copolymer emulsion and pressure-sensitive adhesive containing the same

PURPOSE: The emulsion polymerization of a mixture of ethylene, vinyl ester, (meth) acrylate ester, mino- or diester of α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid in specific proportions is conduced to produce a copolymer emulsion with excllent pressure- sensitive adhesion. CONSTITUTION: The emulsion polymerization of a mixture consisting of (A) 5- 30wt% of ethylene, (B) 20-60wt% of one or more vinyl esters of the formula (R 1-3 are H, alkyl of 18 or less carbon atoms), (c) 10-50wt% of one or more (meth) acrylate esters from (meth)acrylic acid and 2-18C straight or branched chain alcohol and (D) 5-30wt% of one or more di- or mono-ester from α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and 2-18C straight or branched chain alcohol, resulting in 15-60wt% concentration in the emulsion, is conducted in an aqueous medium in the presence of an emulsifier and a radical initiator COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
