The Effect of Precession of the Earth’s Axis of Rotation on the Motion of an Artificial Satellite

1966
The problem of making allowance for the motion of the equatorial plane on the motion of an artificial satellite is treated by formulating the equations for the variation of elements in an inertial system, in which the ecliptic at an arbitrary date is used as x y plane. The result obtained by Goldreich (1965) is confirmed. Inclinations near 0° or 90° require special consideration, but it is shown that they are not exceptional.
