A domain ontology for capturing knowledge for social integration

2012
Ontologies are used to represent human knowledge in a machine-understandable format. Knowledge exists in all domains and the proper capture and utilization of the knowledge is very important. Social integration is a domain where proper knowledge representation is required. This paper therefore deals with the representation of knowledge regarding the needs assessment done in families falling under the threshold of poverty in a small island developing state (SIDS). The concept of ontology is discussed and the development framework used to create the ontology is explained.
