Efficient high-frequency loss modulator in laser with active mode synchronization

This paper describes a simple and reliable circuit for loss modulation in a laser resonator at an intermode frequency. The circuit uses a cascaded high-frequency triode and a highfrequency power transistor. The parameters of the YAG:Nd3+ laser, which operates with active mode synchronization with the described loss modulator, include a variable singlepulse duration of 0.1-1 nsec for an energy of about0.7 mJ and an energy instability of less than or equal to4% at repetition frequencies to 10 Hz.
