Studies on the Synthesis and Properties of Dihydroxy-di(hydroxyethoxy)calix Arene

2003
A new compound, 25,27-dihydroxy-26,28-di(hydroxyethoxy) calix arene, was obtained by the reaction of calixarene with iodoethanol. Its structure was characterized by IR, UV, MS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The coordination behavior of the product with 4 kinds of rare earth metal(Ⅲ) nitrates in acetonitrile was studied by using fluorescence spectrometry. The stability constants(lgK S) of the complexes of the product with rare earth metal(Ⅲ) nitrates and the Gibbs free energy change( -ΔG°) of the coordination reactions were calculated according to the modified Hilderbrand-Benesi equation. The results indicated that the coordination ability of the product with rare earth metal(Ⅲ) nitrates were stronger.
