Investigating the Photocatalytic Activity under Visible Region of Nitrogen and Vanadium Co-Dopped Tio2 Thin Film Prepared By DC Reactive Magnetron Co-Sputtering Method

TiO2:(V,N) thin films were prepared by DC reactive magnetron co-sputtering method on glass substrates with various doped concentrations of vanadium and nitrogen. Photocatalytic properties of films were determined through the degradation methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The structure of TiO2:(V,N) thin films were determined through XRD diffraction. Surface morphology and grain size were estimated by SEM images. Doped concentrations of vanadium and nitrogen in the film were determined by EDX spectrum. The absorption edge of TiO2:(V,N) thin films which shifted to visible range have showed the effect of nitrogen doped into films. The results indicated that the TiO2:(V,N) thin films have good photocatalytic properties in visible region. They can nearly decompose 80% MB solution and get super wet state after 150 minutes under visible light irradiation. The V and N co-doped TiO2 thin films show much photoactivity than V doped TiO2, N doped TiO2, and pure TiO2 thin films. The visible-light response photocatalyst of TiO2:(V,N) thin films are potential for applications in reality of everyday existence.
