The Application of Featheredging Pear(Tangent Remotion) Method for Phacoemulsification of Hard Nucleus Cataract

2004
Objective The study was designed to investigate the application of featheredging pear method for phacoemulsification of hard nucleus cataract. Met hods We used tangent removal technique invented by our practice to emulsify the hard nucleus cataract. The degree of nuclear hardness in 1258 cases was graded a s IV. Results Postoperatively, the visual acuity with correction was ≥0.9 in 65 .10%at 3 months. There were mild corneal edema in 47 cases, moderate corneal ed ema in 16 cases and posterior capsular rupture in 23 cases. Conclusions The tang ent removal technique enables the tenacious nuclear plate to rupture easily, thu s the stress on the zonules and capsule can be decreased, and at the same time t he technique consumes less phaco energy and time. It is a better operation skill to perform phacoemulsification of hard nucleus cataract.
