Polarization-modulating element, optical element, and a projector

The problem addressed by the present invention is occurrences of color irregularities. This polarization modulation element has as an input an image with a plurality of primary colors constituting color, modulates a polarized light state for the image, and outputs the modulated polarized light state. When one polarized light state is input, modulation to a different polarized light state is carried out for each wavelength for a wavelength interval for at least one of the plurality of primary colors, and the modulated polarized light state is output.
